“I have been working with art since I was 9 years old. I can still remember the first picture I drew: The Little Mermaid. I sat for a solid two or three hours drawing and then re-drawing her, until I was ready to take my sketching abilities to the next level: side-walk chalk!! Since those early days I have had the opportunity to become skilled in sketching (19 years), watercolor (8 years), and more recently acrylic and mixed medium (4 years).
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” - Winnie the Pooh, The Hundred Acre Wood Art has always been a part of my life, growing from a hobby to more recently, a career. I am now able to teach art to junior high and high school students, showing them the thrill of experimenting with different mediums and finding that inspiration can come from anywhere.
Overall, I find that my ideas come from my childhood, where stories were told nightly and whimsical tales came alive. I especially find that my style is closely tied to the classic Winnie the Pooh stories… through my connection with beloved ‘Pooh Bear’. And yet, as the years pass by my sources of motivation are changing. As I adjust to these changes and continue to develop my artistic style, I hope to inspire others as I go along.”
